today i am celebrating 8 years of rockin' love with my sug. we are headed out for a night away to sleep in a hotel and more importantly, sleep through the night!! i'm leaving the world behind for the next 18 hours so i can bask in the joy of my hubby, but tomorrow's blog post will be an anniversary continuation because i HAVE to share something that ryan wrote that will make you wish he was yours. but, he's mine. sorry. :) |

i have a serious problem with my nose.
i am obsessed with things that smell good and disgusted by things that don't. like i've said before, there is little in-between with me. i love it or hate it.
summer is probably my favorite time of year because it's filled with things that i like to smell. see below for my top five scents of summer '09:
1. chlorine. its clean, pure and stays on skin and hair after long hours at the pool. mix it with some day old sunscreen and you'll be hard pressed if i don't linger for a hug.
2. late afternoon rain. its the mix of water on hot pavement that brews up some steamy summer air. i'll roll my window down and get wet just to breathe that smell in deep.
3. charcoal. i could get full just by inhaling the smoke when a neighbor three streets down is bbq-ing dogs and burgers. de-lish.
4. burts bees chapstick. i know people use it all year long, but it smells summery to me. and i like the way it smells better in the summertime.
5. plastic summer toys. inflatable pools, beach balls & swim rings. when i open a package, i always stop to take a whiff of the chemical-induced goodness.
two other things are on my list of favorites this year and i want to give them both away to one of my blog readers! you know, just for the smell of it :)

believe me when i say that this exquisite greek showergel is one of the most delicious things my nose has ever smelled. i literally washed my arms three times in order to keep smelling it. and to you, my sweet capri blue candle, what can i say about you that you don't already know? you have filled my halls with pure goodness & my office with fragrant joy to keep me burning the midnight oil. i am obsessed with this smell and have no issues admitting it.

of love for him. she was glowing the last time you saw her on my blog, belly round, jake being knit together inside. now, her arms hold the gift that she longed for since she was 16 years old. i'd be lying if i said i didn't cry while i edited some of these photos, listening to these words sung by kari jobe...

god's timing and blessing are so hard to understand. i believe he is faithful, however and whenever he knows it is right to answer the cries of our hearts. i am privileged to celebrate this tiny blessing...

she's got serious eyes & she thinks about what's going on around her before she lets herself burst out with squeals of excitement. i happen to think kit is a perfect little girl in every way. and i guess her mom and dad aren't too bad themselves :) we made the most of kit waking up before daylight and headed out on an early adventure to celebrate her turning one!

this family is a perfect picture of why i love what i do! there is nothing fussy or stuffy about them or their love for each other. their love is real, complete with fairy tale stories and ruffles and dancing. they came up from south carolina to play together & have it captured by my camera. allison indulged my ideas of polka-dot-nonsense & hats on her little girly-girls & these pictures look like candy that i want to take a big bite of! hope you enjoy my favorites... |
